Dog gone crazy?
Question: I have a mini schnauzer who began acting very strange this morning. I let her in from her morning outside and she ran right up stairs. She has hardly stopped moving until just a bit ago. She is not usually a very active dog (she's 8 years old), so this change is alarming to me. When I went to sit down she came and sat on me, when I got up she followed me (usually she could careless what I'm doing). She is panting and I have made her drink water from my water bottle. She has finally made a spot to be in my closet on top of all my shoes. Now she usually does like the closet, but not in this area. What should I do? Is she sick, crazy, worried, or is it just me? Answer: Something may have happened to her, or she may eaten something while outside. Any sudden and drastic changes in behaviour should be checked out by a vet. Answer: Absolutely!! You just never know. Schnauzers are very prone to pancreatitis, did this dog have any greasy/fatty foods within the last few days. Hamburger/bacon/gravy anything fatty? If so it could be pancreatitis which can be very serious. Best get to a vet as soon as you can, with some conditions giving water or food makes the problem worse. With others, it helps! If pancreatitis, it makes it much worse. Your dog may require hospitalization. Answer: Thanks for the replies. She has just had her regular foods. I am starting to think something really spooked her because she also kept going to all the door and windows she could see out of. They are doing construction nearby and maybe she heard or smelled something off. Also my cat came running in the house a bit after her and is now way under the bed (she is a very social kitty not usually scared of much). Answer: Have you investigated outside? What kind of area are they in when outside? Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
