Dog has reoccuring cyst with tentacles
Question: My Chessy has a reoccurring cyst on his abdomen that when removed has tentacles reaching towards his vital organs. Has local vets (yes multiple) stumped. Has had it removed 6 times in last 18 months. Am concerned that prolonged use of antibiotics with destroy his natural immune system. Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated. Answer: OH my! Never heard of this, but the only thing I could find that sounded remotely like this was caused by giardia. What did your vet say is in this cyst, and what is causing it? Answer: Wow that sounds unique to say the least I would ask to get a referral to a specialist for sure. Answer: All five vets said the cyst was necrotic tissue. No foreign objects were found. One vet removed 2.5 lbs of muscle to try to find something. All samples were send to Western University in Washington state to the Vet school there. No conclusion- hence I'm trying to find any help on the net. He's such an active and happy dog- I hate to see him be plauged by this. Answer: My goodness, I'm not sure what to say. It seems everything has been investigated throroughly. Did the vet/specialist give you some sort of an idea as to what to expect? Answer: Don't laugh- I live in the wild west, and this is what I would do if this happened to one of my babies and the vets were stumped: I would go to a local rancher (the older the better, they've seen it all) or feed store that supplies the ranchers. Your baby may have a condition that is normally seen in other animals, maybe even livestock. I've seen it happen here where the vet is stumped, and some old-timer rancher says "Aw heck, that usually only happens in pigs! Here's what ya do....". It's worth a shot, isn't it, since all other avenues are proving to be dead ends? Good luck! Answer: P.S- Anything the feed store might give you to help should be checked with your vet first to make sure it is compatible with your baby's system and health history. Answer: That is a wonderful idea! Not laughing here!! Great idea! I'm being grosse for asking you to post a picture but maybe if we saw what it looks like and did some research on the net with you we can find out what it is! The more eyes the better! Let us know! Answer: Luba you have a point. If you can post a picture, please do! Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
