Question: My 10 mth old Pom died a few days ago. He was fine and came (bounded) in from outside to eat his dinner, which he hoovered up very quickly (usually he was more dainty about it). Within about 15 minutes I noticed him slinking into the powder room and went to check on him (looked not quite right). I saw 4-5 vomit piles in his kennel and he was vomiting again on the floor. I also noticed a bit of diarreah so I picked him up and put him outside (I thought maybe he ate too fast). He went down the stairs and out to the lawn to do some business and I went back in to clean up. Vomit was nothing more than dogfood. I then went out to check on him and he was laying down. I picked him up and he was limp, the only thing that moved was his eyebrows. I put him back down and went to get my husband. Goliath did not move after that. My husband picked him up and the dog was gasping. We tried to see if there was something stuck in his throat and could see nothing. I called the emergency vet line and she said to meet her down there and we went immediately. By the time I parked the van, my husband had taken him in already and I walked into the exam room and the vet told me he was gone. It was max. 45 minutes from when I noticed him throwing up. Why did he die? I am so sad. He was just coming out of the puppy stage and becoming a really great little dog. Answer: I'm so sorry your baby died this way.:( Without a necropsy, it's impossible for anyone to say what killed him. Since he was outside, it could have been anything - maybe something he ate, or got into. :( Answer: Thank you for your sentiments. We chose not to have a post-mortem as we have 3 small children and it seemed best to take him right away and have a "service" to help them get through it. Also, he was so beautiful I couldn't bear to have him cut up. I know they would be respectful but... Answer: I am so sorry about your little guy. I know how badly you're hurting and feel for you. Answer: I'm sooo sorry. I guess it would have been nice to know what happened, but I think you probably made the right choice for yourself and your family. What you do know is that your dog got sick and it wasn't your fault. You did everything you could. Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
