I have just brought my cat home from the vet's, after being spayed. Some of the instructions were kind of shady. My concern is, she wants to up on the back of the couch where she is comfortable and she insists on climbing the stairs. When I tried to get these instructions clarified of how long to waite befor allowing these activities. It was sugested 5-7 days and to use my best judgement. I just want her to be comfortable and have a safe recovery. Any extra guidelines or sugestions would be great.

Keep you cat away from the stairs for at least 24 hours. That's until the anesthetics wear off; stairs can be dangerous for them. For the next 24 - 48 hours your cat might be woozy and inactive - that's alright. Don't pick her up - might upset her stiches (if she has some) and make sure she has lots of water. She might try and lick or bite at the stiches (again, if she has them), it's best that they don't. Just keep an eye on her, she should be fine.
