My kitten is vomiting
Question: I just got a kitten two weeks ago and he is three months old. Up until yesterday he was fine . He threw up once yesterday morning and twice today. There are no hairballs in his vomit it just looks like a brown liquid. I have given him hairball cream to eliminate the swallowed hair but need to know could there be anything else wrong with him? Is there any other remedy that I could try to help him out? Answer: Please take him to the vet. There is no way for most people of knowing what it is over the net, and even if there was, we couldn't treat it. Answer: Kittens do not shed the way adult cats do, so I doubt he has a hairball. Where did you get this kitten and what are you feeding him? Is he active, bright-eyed and playful? Answer: My neighbor and good friends cat had kittens so she gave one to me. He brings joy to everyone in my house. I am always playing with him he loves to play all day when he isn't sleeping. He is very active and loves attention. He doesn't like to be ignored he yells and attacks my feet when I ignore him. Thankfully today he hasn't thrown up. When I got him i fed him dry food for like a week, then i switched it to canned food like 9Lives. Do you think it's the canned food that is given him this problem? Thanks for the advice i think i might go get him checked out at the vet. Answer: Yes, it could be the change in food. I feed my cats canned and dry, but do not feed them 9-Lives. You should get some food of a better brand (canned) and try that. I also think that canned food is much better for neutered males - I assume you will be getting him neutered? Get the canned food and add a little each day to his dry food. It's best to change food slowly. If he has not been to the vet for a check up, I would do that too. He may have worms (very common) or other parasites that need getting rid of. Answer: Thanks for the advice and yes he will be. He seems better today he has been running around the house with his toy all day. I will take him to the vet as soon as I can. I wouldn't want anything to happen to him he is just the cutest thing. I aslo have another question why shouldn't cats drink milk? Answer: I am sorry I forgot one last question it was about male cats and why is it important for them to be neutered? I really appreciate all the help LUCKY RESCUE and others. Answer: Most cats cannot digest the lactose in milk, so it gives them diarrhea. It's very important to neuter male cats. If they are unneutered, they will most likely: Spray in your house - Big Stink!! Refuse to stay in Get in vicious fights and get injured regularly - big vet bills. Impregnate females and increase the huge overpopulation of homeless cats. So you can see, it's vital to get your boy fixed, before he starts spraying. 6 months is a good age. Answer: Oh I see. I wouldn't want any of those things to happen. I really appreciate the help and the information. I would of never known there were so many responsibilites. Answer: All these things (and worse) will happen if you don't get him neutered. Intact tom cats are not good housepets. I have seen unbelievable injuries resulting from fights, including a cat with his entire scalp torn off.:( Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
