My Cat was on Clavamox for an Abcess....
Question: The abcess was drained and he was on clavamox for 10 days. All is well except his stools are still soft. ( not watery, and not with excessive frequency ) When I called, I was told this could be a result of the Clavamox even though he finished his pills 5 days ago. Is this antibiotic that potent? I told them if he was not better by monday I was going to bring in a stool sample. Just curious if this makes sense. Thank you! PS I should mention, this started about 5 days into his Clavamox treatment. Answer: Clavamox can definitely cause stomach upset and nausea. If it's very bad, the vet may recommend a different medication. Answer: But he has been off of it for 5 days, and they still say it is causing his soft stool. Is that possible? Answer: Yeah, it's possible. Different animals may have more or less reaction to it. I've had cats on it who were not bothered at all, but one became very sick from it. Answer: I'm reading this post with interest as Den-Den is taking it now. So far so good. Today's 3rd day. Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
