Question:
The abcess was drained and he was on clavamox for 10 days. All is well except his stools are still soft. ( not watery, and not with excessive frequency ) When I called, I was told this could be a result of the Clavamox even though he finished his pills 5 days ago. Is this antibiotic that potent? I told them if he was not better by monday I was going to bring in a stool sample. Just curious if this makes sense. Thank you!


PS I should mention, this started about 5 days into his Clavamox treatment.

Clavamox can definitely cause stomach upset and nausea. If it's very bad, the vet may recommend a different medication.

But he has been off of it for 5 days, and they still say it is causing his soft stool. Is that possible?

Yeah, it's possible. Different animals may have more or less reaction to it. I've had cats on it who were not bothered at all, but one became very sick from it.
