Feline Hepatitis

Question:

HELP!!!!
~My 1 year-old cat, Chloe has been diagnosed with a type of Feline Hepatitis that effects the liver. We first brought her to the vet when she got Juandice for her ears, gums, nose, and skin around her eyeballs turn a slight pale yellow she refused to eat and play which was very strange normally she was a ball of energy. She also had a low energy rate and even it times of panic for her she would only lie down and sleep! She ocassionally uses the litter box but not as much has she used to. One thing though chloe has only vomitted once instead of continuesly like asscosiated with Liver Hepatitis. She does urinate but her feces are thin small, not creamy and slightly discolored. The vet told us there were four types of Liver Hepatitis she could have two were cureable the others were uncureable and fatal! We don't know what one she has for the vet hasn't done a blood test. But if she has one of the two fatal types he said he could put her down! While researching on the internet I found a website listing letters about people who's cats all had Feline Liver Hepatitis and were supposed to die but they used some kind of product medication everyday and their cats survived and were able to live with the uncureable kinds of Liver Hepatitis the product was called NZYMES. I'm not sure about this product cause I've never heard about it.I pray Chloe dosen't have the fatal disease but if she does I'm looking for something to help her live normally but it doesn't have to cure her. I don't want to put her down! I'm not ready to lose another pet like my last one! Please ANY information on Feline Liver Hepatitis or medication for the diesae is VERY welcome!

Answer:
The vet has not done a blood-test? I had a white cat once,Peppi, who drank a lot, became jaundice(sp?),bloodtests showed he was diabetic,he was treated succesfully with insulin injections, but a couple of years later had to be put down because of cancer, but he was about 14yrs old.

Answer:
The Vet Hasn't Done A Blood Test Yet To see what one she has. But he plans to do it this Monday and have the results by Tuesday. I can only pray that she turns out to have the cureable disease type! :(

Chloe had her blood test today :( . The vet told us after putting her on IV's he said she was a little more perky . After he took her blood test she slightly slowed down and rested in her cage he sent the blood test to edmonton the results will be back on tuseday! I pray she'll be cured :( !

Answer:
Thank You Very Much Everyone Who Was Concerned For Chloe! It Helped me alot but sadly Chloe lost her battle today :( The vet went to check on her and found her dead in her cage :( She died peacefully asleep and not in pain which is something I need to remember for it hurts so bad knowing she gone forever. But she was in pain badly and I hope that she can celebrate her first birthday tommorow in heaven. :( My family says that I should consider raising another kitten to take my mind of chloe's death but nothing will ever stop me from remembering my special chloe! :(

Answer:
I'm so sorry to hear about Chloe. It's really hard to lose a pet you have loved so much. You may find your other pets miss her as well and you can console each other at this time. Don't rush into getting another kitty until you are really ready. A new kitty deserves to be an individual in their own right and not be expected to be like Chloe. Your parents are concerned about you, that's all. Chloe had your love and she gave you hers. You have lots of wonderful memories you'll keep with you all your life.

Answer:
I too sympathize,it's really heartbreaking and agree with Glasslass, hold on a little for another kitten. You only had two cats, right? If so,the other cat will probably feel lost and lonely and miss her/his friend.
When you're ready, get another cat or kitten from a shelter and take him/her to the vet right away, before taking it home,to get a clean bill of health.
Try to stay away from pet-shops,where many sick kittens come from.

Answer:
OH, dear - that was very sudden!! I'm so sorry for the loss of your beautiful little girl.:(

Answer:
There Is NO way that I would consider a new kitten a replacement for Chloe NO WAY she was just too special. The sad thing is that I'm still finding strands of her hair around her favorite places of the house :( I miss her SO...much! Everywhere I look I still imagine chloe there. like on top of the kitchen counters or by the stairs waiting for me! :( and I need sometime to mourn before getting another kitten.

Answer:
You sound very mature and realistic about your need to mourn Chloe. It's not easy and some days will be harder than others. You'll know when you're ready.
