Help
Question: Hi: I have a lilac himilayan cat named Buddy; he is four years old. When I was in the hospital my room mate had lost Buddy; somehow he had gotten out of the house and was cat napped. He was missing for 6 weeks. The Animal Hospital called me one day and told me someone had brought him to them. He had weighed 20lbs. before I went in the hospital and when he was returned to me he was down to next to nothing and he looked dehydrated. The problem is he is losing alot of his fur and he has missing patches of fur gone. What do I do? Please help. I am just getting back to work and can't really afford a vet. Answer: Sounds like the fur loss is from malnutrition. I would call my vet and see if what he thinks let him know that you really cant afford to bring him in but he might make a suggestion or allow you to pay him a little at a time my vet does this. Answer: When Nadia, my Himilayan, got really sick, she also lost a lot of fur. She dropped from her "fighting weight" of 7 pounds (she is a small cat, runt of the litter) to just over 3 pounds. Her coat was dull and matted and she shed chunks continually (after successful veterinary treatment she is back up to her "fighting weight" and her shiny, lustrious self ). It takes a lot of energy and nutrients to grow that coat. If the kitty is malnurished or sick, the coat is going to be severely affected. :( Michelle Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
