New Kitten has Diarhea
Question: I just got a new kitten 4 days ago. The only info that I have is that it is older than a month. She goes to the vet on saturday because since I got her I found out that she had tons of fleas (I have spent two days picking them off her) My problem now is that she has developed severe diahrea. She hates being home alone and today we got home and she has it and is going everytime she cries. I have no idea what is causing it. She will be dewormed on saturday, but until now her stools have been normal. I am feeding her a dry kitten food moistened with water. But she isn't drinking alot of water from the other side of the bowl. I called a vet today and they said to give her some wet catfood till I can get her in and maybe syringe her a bit of water. What could all of a sudden cause this? I am sooo upset. Answer: First of all,the kitten at 4 weeks+is way to young to be taken from her mother,I believe that is why she is crying all the time,if at all possible she should go back to the mother until 8 weeks old. Your vet should tell you that, she should still be nursing... As for the older cat, don't isolate her,she will then resent the little one even more. When I got a new kitten, there was a lot of hissing and growling going on,but very slowly I got them used to each other. The baby slept in a seperate room until the others accepted him. About the diohrea(sp?)she's probably not ready for solid food, hence the bad reaction. Answer: I posted on the other post. I hope your baby gets better! Answer: I figure she's too young, but I am gonna keep her. The mother was so seriously skinny, it was horrible. And the people that had them had weined the two girl cats and were forcing the male kittens to wein as well. There were three left so I took one and my mom took one (at the time I didn't know how young they were) The vet said to switch to a wet cat food and possibly give her water through a syringe. I haven't separated the older cat. She hides. I have given them free rein of the house and where she hides i go in there constantly to talk to her and give her treats. She is starting to come out more at night but when she sees the kitten she hisses and runs. We have a big bathroom so that's why during the day while we are at work we put the kitten in there with her toys, food, litter box and bed. so that my other cat can roam through the house without us having to worry about her and the kitten while we are not there.
