My toy fox terrior has episodes of loud intestinal noise that wakes her and me at night. Some times she jumps down off the bed growling. She gets annual check ups and has never had any problems. Is this something I should be worried about? SMoore

How long has she been doing this? Did you mention it during her last checkup?

I hope it is nothing serious, as I wouldn't be able to forgive myself for literally cracking up at the image of her jumping off the bed and growling at her own growling! Shame on me! (I in no way mean to make light of your concern).

What kind of diet does this dog have? Perhaps something is not agreeing with her, just as our bellies tend to rumble when we've created some......intestinal fortitude.

Does she have diarrhea?

Have you changed her diet lately?

Hmm. I'm not sure this helps, but my mother (she'd hate to know I was mentioning this!!!) had loud stomach noises going on for almost a year. They were great fun to listen to during the evenings while we were all hanging out together. She never did get it diagnosed, but they went away suddenly, and has had physicals since without any troubles. She always thought that it was just some kind of bubble, although I don't know anything about that.

Image was kind of funny though... I remember our Bichon used to have small but forceful farts that would scare him a bit. He'd wip around ready to fight with his own rear end!

I hope your dog is okay. I'm sure she's a sweetie.

Tamara, you can tell your Mom I sympathize. My Dr. is always amazed at how "vocal" my innards are. They are sometimes loud enough to get a curious head tilt from the pup.

It's probably nothing more than gas making its way though (the voice of experience here), but I'd call the vet and ask their oppinion.
