Help

Question:
About 1 1/2 months ago my cat (unspayed female, 1 yr old) I noticed raw patches of flesh around my cats neck on the back of her neck and under her chin and I noticed her scratching and I could hear her claws catch and she would groom them continuously, but they went away after a bit but then she started again about a week after they healed, there haven't been any signs of it spreading anywheres else on her body but I'm afraid she may have started a habit, the reason I don't think it's an allergy or skin condition is because it hasn't spread.
I wrapped her neck in a hurt-free rubber gauze type wrap from the pharmacy and put tape around it to hold it and it helped for a while until she figured out how to shred it quickly.
But that is the least of my worries now because I bought "Bitter lime" spray to try to use it on her to see if it would deter her, it did but only when it was saturated then she would lick it and scratch again, i couldn't keep up with her.
She started being sick to her stomach and it's mostly just food coming up (paste) not whole kibbles though, and she was not acting herself yesterday but today she's good, no vomit today, but she is licking a lot and she has black "dirt" around her mouth. I opened her mouth to see if she had anything on her roof and in her throat where I could see but I saw nothing, but I'm wondering if it could be mites on her mouth...??
She's an indoor cat and always has been and no other contact with outdoor cats or any other animals atall whatsoever besides our other indoor cat which hasn't shown any symptoms of mites, and hasn't been scratching at all besides regular grooming.

I hope I gave you enough information, we are poor college students and hoping to find a simple answer before paying a load of money to take her to the vet. I'm desperate to figure this out.

Thanks so much

Answer:
Hi Sarah, welcome to the boards and sorry to hear about your kitty. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you have to take your cat to the vet, soon. I would recommend giving the local humane shelter a call and asking about low cost vets in your area, or finding a local rescue that could help - both of these would likely be available in your phone book or by recommendations from other members on the board who are from your area (I'm stateside :/) Regardless, your cat needs to be seen, this could be a localized infection or allergies, both can behave in this manner but only a vet can tell you for sure. Once you find a low cost vet, please ask about a payment plan. Your kitty needs to be treated professionally (as well as spayed - you may qualify for a voucher at the shelter - please ask). Please keep us posted on how she fares and good luck.

Answer:
I agree. You need to find a way to get your cat to a vet. Good luck and keep us posted.

Answer:
Thanks guys, I have an app't tomorrow for the vet.
I was hoping that someone had a similar incident that had an easy solution.

I took vet assistant in school and graduated with honors but doesn't mean I know everything lol.

Thanks again
