Great Dane losing control

Question:
I have a 5 year old Great Dane that I've had since she was 4 months old. In the past 6-7 months she does not seem to be able to control her bowels. We have a dog door and she comes and goes as she pleases but it seems she is not making it out the door before she has an accident. Her diet has not changed and it doesn't matter whether we are home or not. She is not having diarhea, her stools are normal. What could be causing this and how do we stop it.
Thanks

Answer:
have you been to the vet?

Answer:
This has been going on for 6 months?? Have you called your vet about it?

Answer:
Holy cow, that must be one huge dog door!!!!!!

Danes are very emotional dogs. Has anything in your household changed? Anything in her routine changed? Is she getting used to a new person being around? Is anything frightening her? Is it possible that she was hurt going through the dog door and now is afraid to go through it? Is it possible that something outside hurt or scared her?

Take her out for potty breaks on a leash. See if she goes ok when you do that. If that stops these indoor accidents, it is definitely an emotional issue.

It would not hurt to take her to the vet and get a thorough checkup to see if she is actually losing control of her bowels.
