Kitten Sick With FPV
Question: I just adopted a 7 week old kitten 5 days ago. She was healthy and playful the first day and then she started to throw up and have diarrhea. We took her to the vet and she has tested positive for FPV and is now admitted to the vet hospital. I have done some research and it looks like she doesn't have a chance but I'm still hoping she will make it. Has anyone had any experiences with FPV and their cats? Any comforting thoughts or stories would be greatly appreciated. Answer: I don't know what FPV is - I know FIV,FLeV, and FIP. Do you mean FIP?(Feline Infectious Peritonitis) If you do, here is some info: FIP If it's none of the above, can you tell us what FPV means? I hope your little kitty gets better.:( Answer: It means Feline Panleukopenia Virus or also known as Distemper. If anyone has had any experiences with this please give me some hope. Thanks Answer: OH dear.:( Depending on what your kitten's white blood cell count is, supportive care may get her through this. The care usually consists of IV fluids and antibiotics to fight secondary infection. Please keep up updated as to how your kitty is doing. Where there is life there is hope, and kittens are tough little things. Sending good wishes to both of you! Answer: Thank you so much for your kind words. I will keep you posted. Answer: So my kitten has been hospitalized since Saturday and is now eating on her own. She still looks terrible but hopefully she will pull through. She has had panleukopenia now for about 7 days. I've read that if kittens/cats can make it that far then they will recover. I hope so... Answer: Wow thats quite a job for a little kitty to go through, what a tough road to start a life. I give you positive energy to go along with all the mothering you're doing right now. I truly hope your little purr ball makes it Answer: Group prayers needed! We can do that! Answer: Thank you all for your messages and good thoughts. My little Ella Bleu passed away today. I was able to make it to the vet to see her and she died in my hands. I will miss her even though I only knew her for a short time and find solace in the fact that she is not suffering anymore. Answer: AU14, my heart goes out to you, I am so sorry. Answer: *Tears* I am so sorry. :( Answer: At least, she knew love and had a home in her short lifetime. I'm sooo sorry! Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
