sore cat butt!!

Question:
ok here's the story:
my cat roo was missing for two weeks...then one day he came limping back home with puss in one eye and something noticeably wrong with his legs/back. So we brought him to the vet and with x rays they found out he had a fractured pelvis, and an injured spine & tail. He cannot pee on his own because he can't feel the sensation, so we have to squeeze his bladder a few times a day. His feces has been leaking out and he is constantly licking. Now that he can defecate on his own, his butt looks very very sore and maybe even bloody, but it might just be the soreness.

I was just wondering if there was anything over the counter that we could put on his butt for him..because it looks pretty painful :(

thank you

Answer:
What did the vet say? I would take his/her advice. Poor fellow.

Answer:
we've been to the vet so many times in the past week to get his bladder squeezed..i remember the vet saying something about how he could get 'diaper rash' but she didnt say what to do for it. I'll have to ask tomorrow when we bring him...but i was just wondering if anyone here knew anything..but thanks for caring!

My cat is soooooooooo fat ( how fat is he?????? ) he weighed 21.8 lbs at the vet 2 months ago. He is on a diet ha ha. but he cannot clean himself because he cant reach!! He is getting closer though . Another pound or so and it will all be good. But his Butt also gets red and irritated when he gets poop stuck there. He tries to rub it off. If I put him in the tub and wash him he is fine for a couple of days. Would like to know if there was a desitin like product that might help him.

Answer:
Pure aloe vera gel is very soothing and healing.

Answer:
is it okay if cats ingest pure aloe vera??

Answer:
Oh poor kitty! I had a cat with a fractured pelvis and his recovery was hellish!

Is you cat constipated? A little Laxatone may help that. His butt is probably sore from all the licking he is doing. Cats' tongues are very rough as you know, so it's like rubbing his poor butt with sandpaper.

Try and keep him as clean as possible so he doesn't need to lick. You can put a little Polysporin on his butt, and then don't let him lick it for a few minutes so it has time to be absorbed a bit. Polysporin is not harmful if licked off.
