Diabetes Inspidius ??
Question: Diabetes Insipidius ?? About 1 year ago my daughters Bassett Hound (he's 5 yrs old) started having accidents in the house. We went to the vet and a possible diagnosis of Diabetes Insipidus was given. His latest specific urine gravity is 1.003 and keeps dropping each time he's tested, only abnormal blood work is BUN = 4 (7-25) and Creatinine = .05 (0.3 - 1.4). He's on KD dog food and has been tried on several meds and is now on a higher dose that doesn't seem to be helping; I don't know the names of the meds off hand. He's still urinating in the house. Unfortunately, the more expensives meds are out of our financial reach and his vet is giving him 6 months to a year to live. Does anyone have any information on what this might be, if it's truly Diabetes Inspidius, and any suggestions? A water depreviation test has not been given. The vet keeps mentioning Kidney Wash Out. Answer: Have you considered going to a holistic vet? Answer: No, we haven't. We live in a small community and as far as I know there isn't a holistic vet around, but I will do some research into that area. Thanks. Answer: Might be a good idea, they usually have a better understanding of nutrition, supplements and such http://www.alternativesforanimals.co.../illinois.html Answer: Here's an article on Diabetes insipidus: HERE Answer: LuckyRescue, Thanks. We've read every article we can find on this disease and have actually read the article you attached. One of our questions and this is because we have been doing a lot of research, is the about the blood work. Everything we've read about kidney failure and this is what we are told is going to eventually happen, indicates the BUN and Creatinine levels increase during kidney failure and Clyde's is decreasing. Answer: Luba, Thanks for the site. I see some of the vets will even do phone consults. That is definitely something we'll have to look into. Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
