New Puppy has gag and choking symptom

Question:
My puppy turned 7 weeks old today, she's a black lab mix with full energy, full appetite, and already potty trained on newspaper. This morning, she began a strange symptom, which isn't coupled with any other symptom indicating she is in pain.

She sounds like she has a hair in her throat or something making her weeze for about 15 seconds, then almost heaves, but doesn't. It sounds like if she did it would fix the situation. The only thing we can think of is that we found a tiny bit of batting, the white fiber stuff that pillows are often made of, under our bed where she curled up two nights ago. She did throw up two nights ago while playing, and that was that...her tail is wagging, she is running and has been quite well-behaved.

The sound she makes is of an asthma or bronchial condition. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:
Maybe it's reverse sneezing? Kai had it as a pup and still does it once in a while. The vet said it was nothing to worry about and to try to soothe the area (rub the neck) and talk in a calm voice.

Answer:
My puppy also sneezes sometimes and has experianced the gagging you described, although that was when she had been eating grass and was ill with a gatsric stomach bug. It's possible your pet could be allergic. Review any possible irritants, such as carpet shampoos and air fresheners, and if your puppy still remains the same it would be better to take her to the vet so she can be thoroughly examined and diseases such as asthma can be ruled out. Remember, even though her appetite and behaviour seems good, she could be displaying some early sympthoms of a disease and therefore she needs to be checked out ASAP.
Good luck
