usually active cat won't move
Question: We took my cat to the vet the other day and they couldn't figure out what was wrong. My cat is very active and is constantly up and about and always wants to go outside. It always runs to the kitchen if there's any sign of food. However in the past week he hasn't moved at all. He will barely eat and drink (we have to bring food and water to him). He seems to like cold spots and will just lay there and lick himself. It looks like he drooled all over himself and he's always wet and it seems like he's trying to stay cool. He doesn't moan or anything and he sits in an airconditioned room all day in one spot- all day long. I was watching him breathe and he breathes in fine but when he goes to breathe out he seems to have to push it quickly. Any ideas of what could be wrong? Answer: Did the vet run any tests? (What did he/she rule out?) Did the vet check to make sure there isn't a bad tooth causing the drooling and lack of interest in eating/drinking? (But then again, that wouldn't explain the breathing problem). Your cat needs to be seen by another vet as soon as possible, if the current vet is at a loss. All of these symptoms are something to be very concerned about. Answer: When was the last time he urinated? Has he had a chest x-ray? Answer: Ok he's ok now. I took him to another vet and they figured out that he had a massive hairball going through him. He'll be fine. Thanks. Answer: Brilliant news (about him going to be okay). Thankyou for believing in second vet opinions! Good for you Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
