dog starts peeing
Question: Hi, I have a 2 1/2 year old pointer who has never had an accident in the house. He is extremely socialized and has been around at least 100 people including cat owners, dog owners, people with no pets and people with both. He has always been very warm and affectionate. Today two people stopped over that he had never met before, he was excited as usual to see them and sat to be pet, he had just been out to pee not 10 mins before and hadn't had anything to drink since then. He walked away a little from them and began to pee. My boyfriend quickly touched his back to get his attention and he stopped. Thinking there must be something wrong we didn't get angry at him but then he walked over to my leg, cocked his leg and peed all over my pants. This time I took him out of the situation and into a private room but again I refused to be angry because he has never done this before and has never had an accident. We also have a smaller puppy who is now 1 and she hates strangers so she was barking a little and mostly running around to get away from them, she has done this before and he has never peed but I thought I would include it in case it means anything. What could have possibly caused this? Also his pee had no smell at all to it and was far more clear then yellow but there was a ton of it, so much that we needed 3 bath towels to soak it up. Please help if you have any suggestions as to why he would react this way??? Answer: Hi there. I think folks here might need a little more info to go on. Are your dogs spayed/neutered? Has the male recently been to a vet to rule out any physical reasons for this unusual behaviour? Do these folks who visited you own an unspayed female? Hopefully, someone on here can shed some light on this for you! Answer: i will be happy to give some more info, both my dogs are spayed and neutered (one is male the other female) and have been since each was 6 months old. The visitors do not own pets and were recently around a spayed cat. I haven't taken him to the vet because this was only done about an hour before i wrote the post which was 9:30 pm here and it was a one time occurance so I thought I would look for some guidance here first and if necessary and it happens again I would take him to the vet to check for bladder infections or something but since that incident he has gone out to pee when he let us know he needed to and everything has been normal Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
