Whats wrong with my cat??

Question:
I have two cats who are about nine years old. Recently we moved to florida from california and brought the two cats. Now the male cat has lost a significant amount of fur around his neck area. The skin is exposed and there seems to be a purple mark. It does not look as though the fur was forcefully removed. It just isnt there. They are both outdoor cats. The cat has been sick in the past. Any idea what may be wrong with him. I can not affors to take him to the vet though he is my top priority. Any info would be great.

Answer:
Your cat needs to go to the vet though. They are the only ones who can truly tell you what is wrong. A check up is not a whole lot of money (especially for the peace of mind it can provide), Where I am from it is $47 Canadian, so in the states I would say its probably approximately $35 American. That being said there are cat owners here who may have had similar experiences they would like to share. I still urge you to take any knowledge that you gain from your research, and discuss it with a professional (DVM).

Good luck, and all the best to your little buddy,

Answer:
Cats loosing fur can be anything from stress, to thyroid, to underlying disease.

It's worth getting it seen. Lets hope it's just stress. Not the easiest one to "cure", but probably the least expensive.
