Very Sick kittens
Question: I am 17 years old and i really dont have money. I have a family friend who has a cat who recently had kittens. One of the kittens became ill and the moether wouldnt care for it it was also cold and having trouble breathing. The owner wouldnt belive me whne i said it was ill but let me take it to care for it. I tried to get it warm as possible but he just wouldnt get warm....he soon grew weak enough that he coudlnt walk i tried feeding him kitten formula out of a bottle spacificly desigened to nurse them he wouldnt eat his mouth was almost white...at about 4am he passed away. Now the other kittens and the mother are comming down with it. I really dont know what to do as my family doesnt have money and neither do i and the owners are ignorant. I do not think the collage here has any program but i really dont want to see them die...is there anything i can do at all? Answer: After seeing the one kitten die, does the owner still not believe you when you say the cat and kitten are ill? It's the owners responsibility to bring that cat and kitten into a vet. Call a vet and ask for advice. If one died, and the other is sick, as well as the mother cat, leaving them to their own fate can only be bad news. They need to see a vet...now! Answer: And if as you say the owners are ignorant and you are sure that these little ones need attention, call your local shelter or SPCA, and see if they can do anything to help you. (They may be able to take them from these people if they are not properly caring for them.) Also some vets are willing to take on little ones and work out a payment plan with you, so you would not have to pay it all right up front, just let them know your age and the situation in detail. And God Bless you for wanting to help these little ones and for asking for help and advice! I hope they make it and have happy little lives... Answer: The owner belives me now. This entire situation has made me lose all respect for this woman. I found out that her idea of getting them homes was to let them go in a rich neighborhood and just hope. Im discusted by the entire thing. She belives me but is happy that they are are less of a burden or rather will be. Its sick. The problem with the vet thing even if he lets me make payments is i really have absolutly no money. Neither does my family. I stay at home and babysit my little sister after school till about 6 or 7pm so i dont have time for a job. Also my shelter here isnt accpeting any animals i dont think. they are puting them straight to sleep is what i heard because it is sooo over crowded. thank you guys for your imput and suggestions. Answer: Report her to the SPCA. If the cats come in through the investigations dept. the shelter can not euthanised them. They have to treat as they would technically still be the property of the owner. (it's alot of confusing red tape) If they surrendered to the shelter, yes they can euthanise them, so go via Investigation dept. However, at the end of the day, isn't it better that they are euthanised than let to die a slow agonising death? it sounds like the one kitten was in respiratory distress, how agonising. It's against the law for your "friend" to let them die in this way. Call the SPCA. You don't have to give your name or any info about yourself. Answer: I found someone to help me with vet bils and such an orginization here sadly i only have one kitten left and he is on his last leg. Im having him put down. Thank you all so much for your help. Answer: That is so sad :( Answer: That's very sad. :( Remember that you were there for them and did what you could. You should take comfort in knowing that the suffering is over, even if it wasn't the outcome you wanted. You were their angel of mercy. Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
