Sore on back of cat

Question:
I have an outside cat that is about 3 years old. About 2 weeks ago I noticed she had a sore on her back but it wasnt very bad so I figured she had gotten into a fight with another cat. Today I was petting her and noticed that it leaking a lot of brown liquid. When she stands up it pours down her back and she is licking it non-stop. What could this be? Alos the hair around the sore is now gone. Its only a small area about the size of a quarter. Is this something that should be seen about now or could it wait for an appointment? Thanks.

Answer:
I would get that looked at ASAP before it gets any worse. We had a cat with something similar once, but because he was an outdoor cat, by the time we got our hands on him, it was quite a bit worse. The treatment took almost a month (we had to prevent the wound from healing because it needed to drain A LOT) which was hard on everyone, including the cat. The sooner the better -- go to the vet!

Answer:
Yeah, The sooner the better, It may not be to big now but like moon said, it could get worse. Is your cat spayed? If she is an outdoor cat, make sure she is spayed to prevent having more unwanted kittens and it will also help with her fighting with other cats. Let us know how it goes!

Answer:
you've had two weeks to wait for an appointment, now the cat need immediate attention the infection is speading if the hair is falling out around it
