Cat is lathargic with white gums

Question:
Our 2 1/2 year old neutered Manx has become sickly within the last two days. He won't hardly eat or drink, gums are white and he mostly stays in one spot. He hasn't used litter box in almost two days. He is normally VERY ACTIVE. I don't know if he is wormy or may have a really serious disease. We starting giving him some worm meds and antibiotics yesterday.

Can anyone help us out with some suggestions?

Much thanks in advanced.

Answer:
Have you taken him to the vet? If not, why are you giving him antibiotics?

Answer:
Mayfield, your Manx cat is obviously very ill, white gums usually means he is dehydrated and could easily die if you do not get him to the vet ASAP.
Do not give him any meds on your own,you are not helping him :(
Please,a vet right away!

Answer:
you need to get that cat to a vet asap sounds a bit shocky as well with the white gums. Do not hesitate and do not wait for an appointment just show up.

Answer:
Hasn't gone to the litter box for 2days!!! Your cat is blocked! He needs the vets now or he will die. White gums, sounds as if he's dying already. White gums indicates shock. Go Go Go, don't wait.

I took my cat to the vet Friday and he put him on some antibiotics and a laxative and wants me to bring him back Tuesday.

He is taking in very little water so we are giving him water orally via syringe.

I want to thank all for your help as I am so worried about him. :(

Answer:
You're welcome and hopefully he'll be ok,did the vet say what is wrong with him? Please let us know how he's doing and good luck to you and kitty!
When he's better maybe you can post a picture,we have not had a Manx cat here before.

Answer:
We discovered our beloved, Bob, had feline leukemia. Completely incurable. We cried for two days and had to put him to sleep yesterday. He is now buried in our front yard under our Barlett Pear tree.

Words cannot describe our loss, as Bob was the most unique cat who has ever graced our home. He was family to us. We miss greatly him with all heart.

I want to thank all who sent their words of advice and help.

Sincerely,
The Mayfields

Answer:
i am so sorry for your loss.
I know how much it hurts when a beloved and faithful pet passes on.
I am going to give you my best advice:

Move on but don't forget.
Remember but don't obsess.

I'm sure your kitty is now free from pain.

Answer:
Sorry to hear about your cat, such a young age too. But it sounds like he had a life full of love and care. We lost a cat to the same thing when I was young, it comes on quickly and there isn't much to be done.
So Sorry

Answer:
I feel for you and your family. It's especially hard when he was so young and it happens so suddenly.

Answer:
I am so sorry about your baby just remember all the good things about him.
