Update on barfy cat!
Question: Hi all, This will be a long one, so I apologize in advance! A few days ago I posted a question titled "How much is too much...", about my cat who was vomiting quite a lot! We got her into the vets yesterday and after some bloodwork, the results are in! She has some elevated kidney levels (meaning long term, normal with age kidney problems) and also some blood elevations that may be indicative of inflammatory bowel disease or a possible parasite. However, she did eat and keep down some canned food last night and seems perfectly normal and healthy! The vet suggested seeing how she is over the weekend and if she doesn't vomit anymore, just bringing her back in in three months for some more bloodwork. If she does vomit, we'll bring her back in next week for X-rays to see if there is an obstruction in her bowels (she ate a few mice last week, maybe one got caught?). My question is this: How much to x-rays cost (I'm in toronto) and does it involve putting the cat under to do them? As well, if it is an obstruction, how much is the surgery and how evasive is it? I just want to prepare myself cost wise. Also - any good suggestions for over the counter "sensitive stomach" cat food? Thanks so much! I do appreciate it! Answer: You can find food for sensitive stomachs (or gastro problems) at your vet. The cost of different procedures varies from vet to vet, so you'll have to ask how much x-rays are A cat is not likely to hold still for an x-ray, so will probably have to be sedated, but I could be wrong. Removing an obstruction is majory surgery, but again, cost will vary. I'm glad your kitty is feeling better and hope she stays that way! Answer: Very happy your cat is feeling better and btw funny on the 'barfy cat' Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
