Please help! Im real scared (? about cat)

Question:
Hi everyone! I just signed up because I am desperate for help. I am 17 and I have had cats all of my life. My older cat had kittens and I ended up keeping one..she was born around June I think, so she is about 4 months or so..Anyway she has been perfectly healthy up until recently this week. On tuesday of this week she started throwing up and she has been having diahrrea. When she would throw up, she would cry(my dad said she was just scared, but im not sure) We were going to take her into the vet, but on wednesday, it had stopped.. I did not check the feces but I believe she still had diahrrea. On thursday, late in the afternoon she started throwing up again. Sometimes it would be food, and other times it would just be clear liquid like stuff.. Today, she threw up again..When she isnt throwing up she seems pretty normal..she is playful and purrs and everything..the diahrrea still exists. My dad seems to think its nothing, but I am really scared. does anyone know what could be wrong with her? please help!

Answer:
So you never ended up taking her to the vet WHY????

Answer:
my parents dont think anything is wrong with her because she is still playing and running around and being a normal cat..she still eats and isnt depressed or anything... They think she has a little cold or something, and I cant take her in myself. I need someone to confirm for me that it IS serious because my parents arent taking me seriously.. my dad thinks that because he is older than me and has had cats all of his life that she is fine.

Answer:
How sad is it when the child is more resposible than the parents?

Your parents aren't vets, I would have the kitty checked out. Soft stools for a day or so would seem fine...but if it is a persistant problem, and she is vomiting as well, she needs to be examined.

Title of forum thread is;

Ask the Vet - ** If your pet is vomiting, bleeding, has diarrhea etc. Seek vet care ASAP.

Answer:
Your parents need to be responsible and get the mother fixed ASAP if they haven't already done so!

Answer:
Agreed. Off to the vet with the poor kitten!! It's possible she ate something poisonous. Beat a path to the vet's door. Convince your parents!

Alright, thank you guys so much.. I am going to tell my parents that she NEEDS to see a vet, no ifs and or buts. I love her very much and would be devastated if anything happened to her. Could it be possible that it is hairballs, because she does have long hair? Or is diahrrea not a symptom? I dont want to shocked when I go to the vet and have something really horrible with her, cause I would be so upset..

You are better off finding out if something is wrong with her now than before it is too late. Kudos to you kid for taking action and being resposible.

You are a very responsible mom and should be proud of yourself for looking for other opinions, since you did not feel comfortable with your cats situation. Nice to hear young responsible owners on here

You're a great Kid..wish there was more of you! atlease your parent did teach you good morals! i cant wait to hear what the vet had to say...
It's Better to be SAFE than Sorry....

Answer:
It's best to have her checked by a vet. My baby had diarrhea when I first got her too. Turns out she had an infection and my vet gave her medication which cleared it right up. If it's the cost that has your parents worried, I know not everyone can afford huge vet bills these days. Your vet may let you do some sort of payment plan or something. Good for you seeking help for your little kitty. Hope things work out for the best. Keep us posted.

Answer:
I've never seen a kitten with a hairball, and kittens don't get colds as we know them.

Kittens can get dehydrated very easily if vomiting and having diarrhea and can rapidly die - literally overnight.

Your kitten could have a serious illness and definitely needs a vet.

Please talk to your vet about getting the mother cat spayed.

Thanks for being so caring about your pets!
