Fat cat not feeling well
Question: My 7 year old obese cat vomited yesterday and has vomitied mucas today. He gags when offered any food or water although he ate some canned food earlier. He is lethargic but doesn't seem to be in any pain. He's urinated and had at least one bowl movement today. He's been eating a lot of my new kittens kitten chow. I called the vet who said he may have a hairball that won't come up so I forced a bit of hairball remedy per his suggestion. I'm nervous and would appreciate any other suggestions. Answer: How is the kitten??? Is there any chance he/she could be sick as well? If so it could be a virus or something contagious. Another possibility could be that your cat has contracted worms or a tapeworm from the new kitten which will make a cat vomit. Now my vet told me that worms won't make a cat vomit-- but i've seen my cat actually vomit up a tapeworm ! Yeah it wasn't pretty. So I took her to the vet and put her on deworming meds (Make sure to get one that covers all kinds of feline worms) Also make sure to only get these from your vet and that it is safe to deworm a kitten as young as yours. I'm no expert so make sure you take your cat to the vet and suggest the worm possibility. Take care of your cats and keep us updated. Answer: Have him checked by the vet, Make sure that there's no mucous on his lungs, fluid around his heart. His obesity could be taking it's toll? better safe than sorry Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
