My cat is sick

Question:
My cat lost his appetite suddenly three days ago, he used to eat everything put in front of him and more!! Now, i can get him to eat two teaspoons of food a day. I took him to the vet, they said he had a temperature, checked him for cancer and aids, his blood came back clear. they gave him an iv and a shot of b12. He's still the same, feels warm, has no energy...i'm having him drink water with a dropper so i can make sure he gets some. He normally liked to suck on earlobes, but that's all he wants to do. We have another cat, same age, that's just fine and rather upset that his brother is sick. They are both about 4 - 5 months old. Any suggestions?

Answer:
Take him back fro a re-check or see another vet.
If a cat goes without any food for >48hrs, their liver can start to decay. Have you tried canned food? he should be eating aleast a sml can a day or be hospitalized with a stomach tube. Have you tried Tuna, beef broth, baby food? At this stage in the illness, he really needs to eat.

Could he have gotten into anything? What about an x-ray or ultrasound?

Answer:
He could've ate anything....i mean, such as string or such.....he will try and eat anything...i will take him for a re-check. the dr. mentioned that it could be tapeworms? do you think that could be the cause of this? O, and i just found a baby tooth, that he must of lost today....is that normal?

Answer:
loosing baby teeth are normal. Tapeworms can do quite a number on animals if left untreated...................However, tapeworms rarely cause serious desease in cats and dogs. Clinical signs (if present) depend on the degree of infestation, age of the animal and condition of the animal.

Clinical signs vary from malaise, irritability, capricious appetite, shaggy coat, to colic and mild diarrhea. VERY rarely, intussusception of the intestine, emaciation and seizures are seen.

I'm concerned about the sudden lack of appetite. That's not the norm with tapes. A higher temp could indicate infection. I would do a full CBC/CLINICAL CHEMISTRY if $ permit and/or an x-ray. If you had to choose between doing the two, I'd do the x-ray. In case there's an intestinal foregien body such as an elastic etc....that's causing the intestines to become necrotic.

Answer:
thank you very much for responding...i will take him back in today!

Answer:
