new dog is mean to my old dog
Question: about a week ago i adopted a 2 yr old purebred labrador (shadow) from the pound, we already had a german shepheard (tyson) for 6 years, the first day they were fighting alot but seem to have mellowed out now unless 1 gets jealous of the other and ive noticed that its the new dog that starts most the trouble and snaps at my german shepheard first. they are both males and both have not been de-sexed, will this behaviour stop once i have de-sexed one of them? my new dog is trained will obediance training my older dog help? i worry about leaving them untied when im out and ive heard that labradors are not meant to be aggressive dogs so why cant they just get along? please help. angela. Answer: If you are going to fix either of them i would do the shepard.. Neutering decreases the risk for prostate cancer aswell & they can be quite dominant. If you have the cash do both, it just wouldnt be fair.. itll calm them both down a little i believe. Do you know the Labs history?? If it was abused that could be the reason for its troubles. Maybe it wasnt properly socialized.. take them both to a dog park! Make sure they both get equal amounts of attention... being from a pound coulda been lonely!! Good luck!
