They seem very tired!!!
Question: My cats are doing great (but not my wallet since I have left my air conditioner on 24-7 since we came back :( ). They are eating and drinking fine and seem to have settle down a bit more now. They seem very comfortable around me, but they seem to be very shy when my friends or family visit me. I have a question though, I took them for a bath yesterday (hadn't done that since I was in Vancouver) and I also asked the salon lady to apply Revolution for me. The day after that I realize Sabrina (the younger one) pulled out her hair where the flea treatment was applied. She also seems very tired (but she didn't get a good sleep the night before because she always insisted on waiting for me to go to bed and I didn't sleep until 6am). It's been 2 days now, but she still look tired, also they don't seem to be eating as much as usual. Could anyone tell me what's going on? Thanks. Answer: VCheng,if your cats are indoors, why Revolution? I think they are reacting to the bath-experience(maybe shampoo?) plus Revolution...it is after all a pesticide. My cats have never had a bath and I would not even attempt it I use Advantage on my cats in the summer-months,very grudgingly...they do not like it,but mine come outside with me.Now in the fall and winter I don't use any. My Vinnie is white, loves to roll himself in the dirt outside and looks a mess, once back inside,an hour later he's sparkling white again...cats take care of their own cleaning,a bath should be done only in extreme circumstances IMO. More than likely yours have a negative reaction to the whole experience and should feel better soon.. Answer: My Male cat Monty thinks its just wonderful having a bath . Any time the kids are in a bubble bath he jumps in with them and stays in kids aren't holding him he just sits in their water playing with the bubbles. Afterwards he gets a bath with just water to rinse off all the bubbles and he thinks its great. And showers ..... I had to get shower doors to keep him out of the shower otherwise he was in the shower everytime we showered. The bath I will let him have his fun he likes it. Answer: I bathe Puss-Puss with Flea-Flea Bar Soap at the beginning of the warm weather season. I comb her daily with a flea comb and if I ever find a flea, I bathe her again. Both Den-Den and Puss go in and out at will and we've never had a flea problem. We don't use any other product. When I bathe her, she's really good, doesn't fight or struggle. Afterwards, she get's really loving and snuggly because she knows she's soft and fluffy. When I hold the comb up and tap it with my finger, she comes right over to be combed. For our first cat, we hit the jackpot! Answer: Monty,I would love to see your cat and kids in the bathtub, pictures please!!! and Glass-lass,if you get a cat used to anything as kittens even a bath,I am sure there is no problem. But generally cats do not like baths and don't need it,you could not get a more self-cleaning animal than a cat. Answer: I took them for a bath because their fur seem very oily. But right now (2 days later) their fur feel oily again. I am wondering if it's because the bathing has dried up their skin or something....Also, I went to my aunt's place in the countryside, unfortunately I think i bought back some fleas (they have lots of animals like guard dogs instead of pet dogs so very dirty and also a lot of ground dirt and grasses). I had 2 small insect bites when I first came back home but then the bites increase to 5 within one night. Also, all bites located on my feet and lower legs, that's why I used the Revoution on them...Hong Kong is very humid and hot, so there are problems with fleas and stuff...but I promise I won't take them for a bath again. Answer: Vcheng, were you in the room with them when they were given a bath??? If not I am pretty sure it was a traumatic experience for them... As far as oily fur,I am not sure what to do or why the fur seems oily, maybe someone else has an answer. Put a new Thread with "oily fur"maybe someone can help you. I am glad you decided on no more baths,it's really not needed. Were the cats with you when you went to the country? Otherwise, fleas would not stay on you and jump to the cats, did you see fleas on the cats? Answer: I couldn't stay with them during their baths. Pet salons are so different here than Vancouver. The one I took them to was so small that the store cannot stand more than 4 persons!!! The counter was even smaller, only 1 person can talk to the store owner and she put my cats in the washing area where only 1 person can be there too...I asked the lady if i can stay and watch but she said no, so.... I don't see any fleas on my cats, but then I can't think of what else is biting me. I don't usually open the windows so no mosquitoes can come in and all the bites are concentrated on my lower legs...so I just thought they must be fleas.... Answer: That's what I was concerned about giving a cat a bath(most)under normal circumstances is stressful for them and you don't know what this person had to do to the cats in that little room As for your bites,I have no idea,if the cats have fleas you will notice them, they're not that tiny.Get a flea comb,or just use the brush. Take some of the cat-hair,put it on a paper-towel add a little water and squeeze,if there is blood spots from flea-dirt,then they have fleas. If you find fleas you have to vaccum every nook and cranny in your house, they love to hide in base-boards...but I am hoping and guessing your cats do not have fleas.
