Pancreatitis
Question: My 11 yr. old Borzoi just had a bad case of pancreatitis, I brought her home from the vet 2 days ago and per vet directions only gave her the canned dog food they gave me. She is eating fine and going potty ok, the only thing is she doesn't seem to be drinking very much at all. Her gums are pink, and she stayed in the vets care for 2 days on IV's. Is this a normal sympton with pancreatitis. Will she drink when she is ready? I have tried to get her to drink more by using ice chips, offering out of my hand, and mixing some chicken broth into her water. She just seems uninterested. She has never had any health problems before, so i am really stressing out over this unfortunate illness. Any suggestions? Answer: Can you call your vet on the telephone & mention this to him/her? Maybe add a little water to the canned food... Answer: I have been told that as long as she is not vomitting she should be fine. But I am still concerned. She is still urinating regurlarly, although i have not seen her drink at all since she came home 2 days ago, unless she is only drinking at night which is unusual and i have been watching the water bowl closely to see how much she is drinking and the water level never seems to go down. I give her fresh water every morning. Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
