Attention Behaviour Issues
Question: Hi, I got my cat when she was 6 months old now she is about a year and she has some serious behaviour issues. For starters I have never seen a cat that needs so much attention and this is part of her behaviour issues. She is constantly jumping on the counters and tables and anywhere she knows that she is not suppose to go to get attention. As soon as I get up and start walking towards her she will jump down and run away because she knows she is not suppose to be on there. I dont know what to do. Please help me! Answer: Jumping on counters is not something I would consider a serious behavior issue. Is she home alone a lot? She may be lonely and knows that jumping on the counter gets your attention, even if it's not good attention. How much time do you spend with her? She's young and needs lots of playtime and attention. Another idea, if you aren't around a lot, is to get another cat to keep her company. A young and mellow male would be good. Unlike what many people think, cats are not all that independant and do enjoy company very much. Answer: Our cat use to do the same thing, and so we put containers or pop cans filled with pennies..when she jumped up,she hit the can and it rattled and scared her off...Anothe idea is tinfoil..cats hate it,and if you place pieces where she jumps too..table etc it may work The other idea is a water gun...each time you see her someplace where she isnt suppose to be squirt her with the water gun....you hae to be sneaky to do this but it works Answer: From what you're saying, all of my cats would have behavior issues. They all do it, all four of them! And they all know they are not allowed on tables, but they don't care. I read your other post too. All of my cats do that also, they do not like when a door is closed, they HAVE to be where you are, or even if you're not in the closed room, they just have to try and open that door. This is not bad behavior, it is cat behavior. Answer: Welcome to the ever bizarre world of cats. Answer: Cats are like that. Answer: Boy, am I ever glad my cat isn't that needy. I have a hard enough time "going" while the dog watches! Did someone mention two-sided tape on the counters to train the cats to stay off? Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
