Question:
Hello I am babysitting my friends cats at my house one of the cats is fine (friendley etc). The other cat is not as outgoiing but it likes to be petted. The cat that is not so friendley keeps pooping on my rug. I scoop thier litter box everyday but it still likes my carpet better. Also its poop is not very solid its almost liquid. Do you think that the cats are just unsettled or are is it sick?

Some cats are more easily stressed than others, and most cats do not like going to new places.

I don't know if this cat is sick, but if he has diarrhea, that may be another reason he is avoiding the litterbox. Try fasting him for one day, then feeding him something mild like boiled chicken and see if that helps.

i'm new here so i don't know if i should be offering opinions at all but when i was a young'un, we had 3 cats. whenever my mother went out of town on business, one cat would poop all over the house... one cat would PEE ON ANYTHING THAT HEATED UP (including the burner on the stove, our blowdryer and once INSIDE the toaster) the other cat was always good as gold... she liked my father better!

when i first got my lovely rescued kitty, she had issues with poop. not so much all over the house, she kept it where it went but it was extremely mushy. she was very stressed and i was not passed on her normal food.

i don't know if any of this helps but he/she may be just fine but upset that things are amiss. you ever get an upset stomach when stressed? this isn't to say that there isn't anything wrong but keep an eye on him/her and do your best to put both kitties at ease.
