Question:
Hi, we got a 4 month old puppy yesterday and i noticed some of her paw pads were pink. I didnt think anything of it, but we've noticed if you touch them she barks, growls or yelps, so now i think its something wrong.

Any thoughts?

Hi Gary,

pink paws are normal in most dogs. If there is no bruising or cuts on the paws then maybe the dog just doesn't like to have it's paws touched.

UNFORTUNATELY this will become a big problem in the future when it's time to cut the dog's nails.

What i suggest is petting her gently while touching her paws, or giving her treats while touching her paws to get her used to the whole thing.

But I haven't seen the paws...if you feel there is something medically wrong with the dog...or if this continues to a greater degree then by all means seek veterinary care.
