Question:
I have a 16 year old beagle with one ear which is hot. This is not related to sleeping on the ear. The ear is a little pink but there is nothing irregular inside the ear.

Any ideas?

Is there a history of ear infections?

Answer:
He's had one or two ear infections. My wife is always cleaning his ears to avoid infection. It's not as bad now. So, we'll keep our eyes on it.
