my friend recently purchased a pure breed boxer. the dog is female 3 months old and it has a really bad rash under her chin and under her lower hind legs. the vet suggested a anti itch shampoo this is not working. She has changed her food, any sugg. would be appreciated.

Our vet tech, the receptionist at the vet office and a chocolate lab we just received all have dogs with what sounds like similar problems. Purina sells a product to the vets office which is a food called low antigen. It has worked wonders on all these dogs, maybe you could ask your vet about it. We found it to be comparitive in price to some of the medium range pet food store choices.

I would try another vet. At 12 weeks of age this poor puppy needs a diagnosis now. A skin scrap testing is in order. Forget any food allergy iffy's, she is too young to be worried about that.
Under her chin & lower legs makes me think sarcoptic. Please take her back to the vet or to another one!
