What could this be?
Question: :( My 10 year old Female Springer Spaniel hasn't been eating for a couple days, and when she does, she vomits. Within 2 days she has become extremely skinny and very stand offish. About 7 months ago she gave birth to a litter of 2 after having the litter, she recieved a large type of "knot" on her lower abdomin. Within a day it seemed to be getting smaller, I assumed she had a misscarried pup and her body would probably absorb the "knot", as it did.It didn't bother her at all. All the while being as active and happy as always. About 2 weeks ago she became in heat. As like many times before her mate, Rusty, bred with her. All of the problems she is having she just recently aquired 2 days ago. She seems to be having a problem with "going to the bathroom", and she has been limping, trying to keep weight off her left foot. I am taking her to the vet in the morning, but I am very afraid of the outcome. Please Help, What could this be? Thank You, Crissy :( Answer: I can't believe your 10 year old dog was able to live through a pregnancy, the oldest a dog should be bred (infact they shouldn't even be bred at all) is 5 (Even that is considered way too old). This makes me feel so ill that you are so voluntarily killing your dog. Answer: About 2 days ago I had to put her down, it was very hard on me. Her liver had shut down, I guess the "lump" I had talked about was just a lump of fatty tissue. But, her gall bladder was white instead of black and her liver had many lumps on it and It had begun to fold. She's in a better place now, she doesn't have to hurt anymore. It took me 3 days before I could agree to the vet to euthinize (<-SP?) her, he told me that she wasn't doing well and that she would just be in more pain as she slowly got worse, there was nothing he could do. I spent 10 minitues with her before she went and held her as she fell asleep. I was bad for a few days, I unfortunately ignored my other 2 dogs thinking that they could be next, now they get more hugs and kisses than ever. They both went to the vet yesterday and are heathier and happier than ever considering their loss. Thank you for your reply. Sorry the out come wasn't that happy.- Crissy Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
