My dog can't walk...
Question: I have a 10 year old Shepherd mix dog. Recently he had his right front leg amputated because he was unable to use it and it was causing him pain. The vet said it was caused by nerve damage as a result of his tripping one day when we were walking him. The first week after the amputation, he walked really well. However, ever since then he has been having problems. I have taken him to the vet numerous times. They have taken x-rays and have tried a series of medicines and shots and nothing has helped. If anything, he has gotten worse. The doctor gave his Cortizone yesterday and I have yet to see any changes. He now can not get up at all. When he had been given shots in the past I would see some difference/improvement, but the day following he would be back as he was before. There does not seem to be any abnormalities when the vet has examined him. He eats and drinks fine and otherwise acts healthy and normal. He just can't seem to use his legs. The doctor thinks he just needs to rest and let the medicine help him, but he seems to be getting progressively worse and I want to see if there is some other treatment I can suggest to my vet. Would you have any suggestions as to what the problem is? It is killing me to see him not be able to move. Thank you. Roseann Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
