Devil's Claw for my cat
Question: My cat suffers from arthritis and a "irritated" knee (to put it in the vet's terms). They prescribed one painkiller/anti-inflammatory that made my cat vomit at least twice/day. I have a new prescription now that's liquid form in addition to a pill to coat her stomach. A friend who's into natural remedies suggested Devil's Claw and Glucosamine. I've read 250mg of Glucosamine is a good dose, but I have no idea how much Devil's Claw to give. Anybody know? Answer: One should always contact an Hollistic Vet prior to decided to add something else of a medicinal purpose to one's pet's diet. Some Hollistic choices can counteract prescribed medicine. Also, discuss with your vet, as many vet's are open to hollistic alternatives. Answer: I was actually planning on stopping the prescribed medication after the 10 days are up. I don't want her on these long-term because they're harmful to the stomach. I'll talk to my vet about it next time I'm in, but I'm not sure if they're into holistic remedies or not.
