cat diagnosed with Renal Insufficency

Question:
The vet has recommended and I've followed through with changing his diet from Eagle Brand holistic to Medi-cal mature because of the above mentioned problem

I've opted for the canned variety. I have a 6 month old and a 12 week old kitten on Eagle Brand Kitten, both dry food.

The older cat (10 yrs old) will not eat dry food anymore and the canned food will be fed twice a day.

My question is:

Is there anything else I can do for him? Suppliments, herbs that will help. Are there things that he should NOT have?

Thank you for any and all suggestions. You've no idea how much I appreciate it
