Latest Update on Nikita

Question:
Hi,, if you read my previous posts last week, my cat Nikita came in from outside in severe pain,, she could walk but was extremely sore on her back area. I called two vets and both said to watch her and as long as she was eating and using the litter box, they didn't suggest to bring her in unless of course she didn't improve in a few days.
That was last Monday night,,,, she literally didn't move for three days except to eat and drink, She didn't use the litter box for three days. She just stayed very still and only moved when she had to. I tried petting her and as soon as I touched her back she would wince and meow really loud. On the 3rd day she started to go into her litter box again, and by Saturday, she was moving around more freely, and today is Monday and she is totally back to normal. I can pet her back, she is laying on her back and running around.
Now I suspect she must have pulled a muscle. The vet told me, cats have a very fast healing process and sometimes they know what to do to heal their body more than we do. I have never seen this before, but I am so glad she is well again. I thought I would pass this on to all of you who read this board.

Answer:
It does not always work out that way unfortunately my one dog hurt is back was put on antiinflammatories and muscle relaxants by the vet and still was having difficulties 2 months later just laying around not wanting to move around , finally took him to a chiropractor where spinal adjustments where done. In other cases animals have required spinal surgery to repair.

Answer:
Something similar happened to a cat we took in a few years ago. We did take him to the vet who said he possibly had a cracked pelvis but there was nothing to do except wait and see if he recovered. We kept his litter & dishes nearby so he didn`t have to walk far or use the stairs and he did make a full recovery. Enough so that a couple weeks later he was able to slip outside and disappear :(

Glad your kitty is feeling better.
