Question:
I have a seven week old chiwahwa. She has little bumps on her head and stomach that she is constantly scratching. What could this be, and what can I do for her. Thank You Gene Smith.

What can you do? Take her to the vet, they can diagnose and prescribe something for it.

I have taken her to the vet already. He seems to think she may have the beginnings of the mange. He told me to bring her back in a week. I am on disability and can't afford repeated trips to the vet. After checking into the mange I find that these symptoms are not consistant with Mange.

You have already been to the vet? Why not listen to him? Puppies are not super strong and if she does need help, and you don't provide it, she won't stand a chance.

Dogs are expensive. If you don't have the means, you might reconsider owning one.

Answer:
It could be mange, thats not unheard of in pups. It could be a form of mites. These mites cause hair loss and bumpy itchy skin in dogs of all ages. They are on your dog all the time, they come out in pups lots as pups have a comprimised immune system. Try a good food and lots of Essential Fatty Acids, your vet may reccomend antibiotics or a topical cream in conjunction with a close eye on the situation...
