Chatterbox!
Question: I recently took in a stray by the name of Faith. She sports a freshly healed broken leg and a skittish demeanor. By skittish I mean she only comes out from under the bed when the lights are off (no big deal, since they're almost always off) and general jumpiness. Now she chatters. Every so often Faith starts meowing. Nothing fancy, just short, loud meows as she wanders around the room until she notices me watching, at which point she pipes down for a few. At first I thought she was going into heat, but her behavior hasn't changed at all beyond the chattering. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Answer: My cat is very vocal. Expecially in the morning or when I am on the phone . He is part Siamese (mom) so apparently this is something common with this type of breed. Answer: Leo is an attention freak....he meows like crazy and its this wierd warbling kind of meow too...you know how people roll their rs? well kinda like that but meow version... Pawz has been doing some crazy meowing recently too...like when he's stalking/attacking the flies or whatever its this wierd half meow thing that he does....otherwise he meows all mad like when I move him from my keyboard/stop petting him... The both of them meow when they want food or when I'm opening hte can (they used to try climbing up my legs which I stopped by looking at them all angry like)...otherwise I think they're pretty quiet....if you call running around so it sounds like a herd of elephants quiet anyway! Megan Answer: I've always had talkative kitties and I encouraged them to express themselves sometimes even talking back in kitty language My last boy seemed to complain, like if it was windy outside he'd have a lot to say about that or if he wanted to play or have attention he usually would stop talking if he got enough of what he was asking for. Sometimes I gave him a catnip toy to quiet him down because he would put it in his mouth and slobber for quite a while if the catnip was good! Some talking can also be an indication of not feeling comfortable like if they are not feeling well they might wander around restless and never seem comforted or relaxed. Answer: Both of my cats chatter, they both do this when they are excited, flys, birds, etc... I have also had a cat in the past that also chattered, all of these cats were Siamese. Also my one cat now howls and runs around the house like he's lost, or if he cannot find anyone he trills, so to answer your question yes I think this is purrfectly fine and I love it, the more vocal the better, I think it adds to their personality. Answer: My persian Umbra chatters when she is excited as well, she is the first cat I have ever heard chatter, and kind of shocked me when I seen/heard her start(definitely not a meow) more like a che-che-che sound Answer: Ceres, her skittishness could be because she's new to your house,it will take a while for her to settle in,hiding for the first little while is not unusual until she feels safe. Having had a broken leg,she obviously suffered some trauma,so be patient with her, give her time to explore on her own. Female kitties are often a little more skittish than male, what kind of cat is she??? Does she eat, drink and use the litterbox?? I also would have her spayed as soon as possible,if she is not in heat now,she will be soon and both you and the cat will suffer My three males cats chatter too,but only if they are watching birds Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
