Question:
My miniature dachshund is about 5 years old. Recently, my husband and I noticed some small red bumps around her back legs. She was biting at them and licking a lot, so I figured they must be hot spots and bought a hot spot remedy. After about a week, that back area of her stomach/legs seems to be scabbing over, flaking off, and clearing up (as far as I can tell), but now the bumps have spread up her chest and onto her head. She doesn't seem to be scratching and biting at all anymore. Some of the bumps are tiny and barely noticeable...others look like large, raised pimples! I can't stand to see her like this, but I'm in too much of a money crunch right now to take her to the vet unless it's absolutely necessary. Can anyone help?
