legs shaking
Question: this morning my babygirl schnauzer was in my lap and just about every time she inhaled to breath her legs would tremble. she is ok otherwise, no elevated temp, playful, eating. can someone give me any ideas? my vet thinks i worry to much about her? Answer: Even if this isn't something that threatens your dogs health it sounds abnormal. If your vet can't give you an answer as to why your puppy is doing this or he won't even try to figure it out, I would consult a different vet for a second opinion. Answer: I would definitely call another vet for a second opinion. It doesn't sound normal. Answer: I hate to disagree with everyone, but I think it depends. It's hard to tell from your description, what's happening. I had a dog that shook all the time. There was nothing wrong with her, it was just how she expressed excitment, fear etc. Does your dog shake like that any other time? Is it just the legs that shake or does her whole body shake? Have you held her in your lap for the vet to see the behavior? Those are all things to consider. I'm not saying there is nothing wrong with your dog, but maybe the vet's right. It' never hurts to get a second oppion, but it's a waste of time and money if she's shaking because she's excited. Answer: I agree with Bethaliz! My dog shakes sometimes when he's inhaling... often when he's in the middle of a stretch or just taking a deep breath. Doesn't mean there's anything wrong with him (there's not). He also kicks, growls, snorts and whines in his sleep, and the only time I worry about that is when his only eye (he lost one) is open, because I worry that it'll dry out, so I'll touch his face to get him to close it. A vet once told me that a video camera can be a fantastic tool for diagnostics, because often things don't show up when an animal is at the vet, same as how sometimes when your car is acting up and then the mechanic looks at it and everything is fine. I'd suggest that if this shaking continues, and you take her to the vet and everything seems fine, that perhaps you take a video of it and take that as well. Good luck, Melissa Answer: She may have just been cold or something. I wasn't saying there's anything wrong, but if I felt there was something wrong with my puppy, and my vet just says "oh you worry to much" and won't give me a potential reason for why my dog is doing something I would get a second opinion. If I call my vet, the techs will at least ask me a few questions and tell me what they think or whether I should come in instead of just saying I worry too much. Answer: Was she awake when she was in your lap or was she sleeping and perhaps dreaming? Does she only do it when she's in your lap? If so, maybe it's the position she's in that's causing it.
