anyone have thoughts/stories/info about ATOPICA and/or KETOCONAZOLE?

Question:
my dermatologist just put my 5 yr old pit/boxer mix on a mixture of these medications...
50mg of atopica and 100mg of ketoconazole once per day-
This was done in an effort to help her with her massive itching and mutilating she does to her paws on her feet...
has anyone got a personal story involving these medications, or any info they can share with me? have you heard of them having any side effects that can negatively reflect on my dogs health down the line?
my dermatologist said that this approach is rather safe with minimal side effects as opposed to using steroids but i wanted to check with actual people too just in case...
i love my dog more than anything/

Answer:
itching of the paws/feet (licking/chewing) can be a result of an allergy. Has you dog been tested for any allergies?

It could be environmental (grass, dust) or food (common dog food allergies are beef, corn, chicken, wheat, and soy).

What kind of food are you feeding? Maybe consider switching to an allergy food that has one one carb and one protein, making sure that they aren't foods your dog has had before (Wellness has a lamb and rice and venison and rice food, and DVP Natural Balance has a Duck and POtato food). As well, when you bring him in from outside, take some baby wipes to wipe off his feet, in case he is allergic to grass (I am allergic to grass myself and I can't walk on it with barefeet without braking out in hives). ,

Answer:
no worthwhile information or personal experiences concerning these 2 medications???

Answer:
Sorry, I've never used them... You can search online for the product monograph. The side effects would be on it...

Answer:
I was looking for info on about Atopica ( as my dog has itching problem as well) and i read a lot of positive feedbacks. It looks like a new good solution, but really EXPENCIVE!!!!
I'm going to speak about it with my new vet next week.
