Question:
My cat is at the vet right now he has been sick and not eating for a few days, his white blood count is at 61,000 and the dr said his bonemarrow is pushing out proteins. He has not told us what might be causing this he seems baffled. he is on anti biotics and being treated for dehydration. any clues to what this might be? thank you.
John

Answer:
I'm not sure but I just wanted to say our fingers are crossed for your poor kitty. Could it be leukemia?

Answer:
not sure this came on withen a week

Answer:
You must be really worried :( If your vet is not investigating further and only treating the dehydration you might consider finding a veterinary hospital that will run lots of blood work. Maybe someone else here will be able to suggest some more tests to ask for, i'm afraid i'm not very knowledgable there. Unfortunately illness can brew for some time, cats don't tend to let you know when they don't feel well until it's fairly serious. I hope you get to the bottom of it and that it can be treated

Answer:
I'm sorry to hear your kitty is sick. Did they test for anemia? What were his symptoms exactly? If they haven't tested for anemia I would ask them to, if the cat is anemic it could give a better clue as to what's going on.

Answer:
I'm so very sorry to hear about your cat! I know how horrible it is to watch your baby go through that. I'm afraid I'm not much help for you as far as advice goes as my cat's bloodwork always came back clean and ended up being a different issue. All I can suggest is to not give up. When one vet doesn't know what else to do, try another. Or ask for a referral to a specialist. That's what I had to finally do, thanks to the recommenation from others here on the board. The specialist at the Animal Hospital is the one who was finally able to give us answers. It sounds like your cat's blood work results are giving some clues, so hopefully someone out there will have an answer for you.
I'm sorry again I'm of no help, but please know I'll be thinking of you and your kity and wishing you the best of luck!
