I bought a male and female purebreed Spynx kittens from a breeder here in Florida. I received them May 22nd the very next day I noticed my male was sneezing and coughing and weezing so I rushed him to my vet who said he had severe upper respitory infection... So we treated both cats but my male was'nt getting any better so that following Monday we returned him and exchanged him for another female. That Monday was the 29th, the following day was Tuesday the 30th and I went into labor with our second daughter I gave birth Wedneday the 31st of May, came home the 1st of June. Okay within a few days of coming home I noticed my new female had diahria and by June 6th both my cats had Diahria, I thought it was just stress in the first cat but when my second kitty got it I knew something was wrong. I had just had a baby so I had no way to get hem to the vet untill June 12th, so I took them and they had cociddia, upper respitory infection, worms and so I was given tons of meds... Fastforward 12 weeks later they still have diahria I have been in the vets twice a week everyweek and they found Giardia in there stool as well, they have been on 7 diffrent med treatments but nothing has made them better... I have two kids and two cats and sometimes the cats step in the poo because I don't get to the box fast enough to clean it, and they track it on my floors, I bath the cats, disinfect my floors and its getting ridicuolus... I am a CLEAN FREAK and so I clean my house every single day and I can't stand poo to be in my home or near my children. We bought these cats for 2000.00 dollars and we have put almost 1000.00 in them, I am getting to the point where I just want to take them to the pound, no one will buy them because of there health record and I am so upset because the breeder won't help me or take them back becuase her contract states they must see a vet within 48 hrs of purchase and she won't even listen to the fact that I had a baby the next day... So I am stuck.. The vet wants me to take them 3 hrs away to get an endoscopy and I don't have the time with two kids. We have the money to take care of them my hubby owns his own bussiness and makes extremmy good money for only being 24 yrs old, but I don't want to keep sinking money in these cats if there never gonna get better... The vet gave me a new med to start Friday and I have been doing it but when will the meds work??? And is there anything I can give them to stop the Diahria I would'nt care if they had to take 100 meds as long as there poo was normal.. They are on a low residue diet to try to fix there tummies but nothing yet.. Please advice would be great! Any type of human stuff that would bind them up while they get the infections gone would be great...

Sounds like you got took to the cleaner by the kitty equivilent of a puppy mill.

First, you need to do a little research and find out about the laws in Florida reguarding the selling of live animals. I can't remember if Florida has a "Lemon Law" or not. Then you need to go to the press. Make a huge stink about it.

Don't want to take the time, you say. What if one of these cats had been sold to a lady who wanted it for her 10 year old daughter who was allergic to cats? The poor woman saves for months to come up with the $2000 it costs to buy one, can afford the usual bills that cats rack up but thought that buying from a breeder would get her a healthy cat for her daughter to love and she just doesn't have the extra money for what you are going through now. It sure would be nice if someone like you would take the time to do something so that this poor woman might have a clue to look elsewhere.

As for your kittens - you can try adding a bit of canned pumpkin (just plain pumpkin - no spices and such added) to their food. This may help with the diarrhea.

Thanks for the advice so far. We are actually in a legal battle with this breeder she is really the RUDEST women I have ever met, she has spoke in legnths to my vet and they say that they can't deal with her shes that ugly to everyone. My problem is I had the cats for 14 days before seeking vet care, even though florida is a lemon law state and you have 14 days to visit a vet so we will see how it pans out in court.. I have also made sure evryone I know does'nt buy from her, but my attorney says becareful because if I don't win in court she can turn around a sue me for slander. Well anyway I am between a rock and a hard place.. I will try the pumkin any other advice will be appreciated!
