Question:
Well after several rounds of ear drops - and constant ear cleanings. Joey is still having problems with his ears - lots of head shaking and swollen ear drums.

He is going under anasteshia tommorow to have his ears thoroughly cleaned - as I can only get a little yeast at the time and the vet said it will probably get worse before it gets better, and he may have ear problems for the rest of his life. Poor Joey Woey.

Hopefully this will make him feel better - and he wont be shaking and scratching all the time. Then off to the health store to see about some Udos Oil for Joey.

Poor Joey.. Are they going to remove the hair inside his ears while they're in there? Are his ears hairy inside? It's really hard with the big closed ears.:( Poor Joey.

Well he just got groomed again (will post new pics soon) and shaved the inside of his hears so that should hopefully help a bit. Technodoll I will take a closer look at that article tommorow I dont know much about feeding raw - but would be willing to look into it.

Joey brought me his dish so I could give him breakfast this morning .:( - Poor little guy I had to hide the dishes and not get him anyfood.

He is probably thinking what did I do :( - He's going under this morning. Worried a little to - its not a major surgery and Joey has gone under and come out okay, but I will be glad when I get to pick him up at the end of the day.

Joey is home now- They changed his ear drops now - to Oto??? and they found get a blade of grass or something down in his ear canal. No more bush diving for Joey.

yes thats it Otomax -dont know why they put us through six weeks of the other ear drops that did nothing. Oh well at least now we got the good stuff.

You just have to use it consistently. I don't usually count the drops though. I just put the tip in and squirt...

JECM, did you ever get Joey checked for hypothyroidism? Ontario Greys posted on your last thread about ear infections being connected to it. One of my last huskies got constant ear infections that we used Otomax on and they still kept coming back. It wasn't until after she was diagnosed as having hypothyroidism that her ear infections stopped. I never knew this until I read OG's post:

Thanks Rainbow - I just read that post again. I think what I will do is to use the Ottomax for week as directed. Then keep an eye on Joey to see if the itching and head shaking come back - if it does I will ask for a Hypothroydism check for him.
