i am looking for some info help please - sugary urine attracting ants?
Question: I have 3 dogs ,2 labs and a Beagle who is 8 1/2 . I noticed the other day when she (the beagle)went out to urinate that the next day the spot that she had peed on had ants crawling on it. Does this mean that she has sugar in her urine and possibly diabetic ???? I purposely try to keep her weight down so that she is not fat and in really good shape. Her shots etc are due soon so she has to go to the vet but I am concerned about this incident. Answer: Is she drinking and peeing a lot? (more than the others) Answer: she is not drinking any more than she normally does, no weight loss or gain. Answer: I have a diabetic Schnauzer. He was diagnosed on Christman Eve 2005. He suddenly started drinking about 2 quarts of water everyday and could not control his bladder. He would pee in laying in bed, just after going outside, etc (signs of a UTI). So, it would be quite evident if he were diabetic. However, you can buy urine test strips at any pharmacy and they are not at all expensive... About $10-$15 for 50 strips. You may want to take him to the vet to be safe. Answer: We agree, going to the VET is the safest way to actually find out what is going on. If there is SUGAR in the urine, it is best that it is dealt with asap. But worrying will not help you or your pets, see the vet. Answer: Hi, the others are right about taking your dog to the vet if for some reason you think she/he has diabetes, but I do know that ants are just attracted to urine, period. We have huge ant problems and none of our dogs are diabetic. You know CA, ant city! Urine also has salt in it, so who knows. Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
